If you’re constantly thinking, “I need to post something,” and then spending hours in Canva trying to make it perfect…we need to talk.
Because if your current approach to photographer Instagram content looks like cramming everything into one day, overthinking every reel, and ending the week completely exhausted, it doesn’t have to be that hard. Yes, marketing takes time. It should. It’s how you stay in business. But there are ways to make it simpler, faster, and honestly? More effective.
This is where what I call “lazy girl content” comes in—and before you write it off, just know this tends to be some of my best-performing content.
What “Lazy Girl Content” Actually Means for Photographers
Lazy girl content is basic and simple, but crazy effective content.. It’s simple, streamlined, and incredibly strategic.
It’s the kind of photographer Instagram content that doesn’t require hours of editing, over-designing, or trying to make everything look perfect. Instead, it focuses on what actually matters: your message and how it connects with your ideal client.
And when your messaging is dialed in, this type of content becomes almost too easy to create.
Why Reels and Carousels Should Be Your Go-To
If you’re still spending most of your time on static posts, I want you to shift that energy.
Reels and carousels are going to give you so much more return for your time. They naturally get more reach, more interaction, and more opportunities for your audience to engage with what you’re sharing.
Carousels, especially, have this built-in advantage where if someone doesn’t scroll through the first time, Instagram will show them the next slide later. It’s literally giving your content another shot.
And reels? They just perform well. Plain and simple.
The Simplest Reel You Can Possibly Create
Let’s make this easy.
Your reel does not need to be complicated. It doesn’t need transitions, trending audio, or a full editing session.
It can be:
- A 5–10 second B-roll clip
- A strong hook on the screen
That’s it.
Your B-roll can be anything—driving, making coffee, shooting a session, talking with a client. It truly does not matter. What matters is the hook.
The hook is where your messaging comes in. It should sound like something your client is already thinking.
Something that makes them stop and go, “Wait… that’s me.”
Then in the caption, you can decide whether you want to expand on that idea or keep it short and to the point. Both can work. The key is that the hook pulls them in.
Your Messaging Is Doing the Heavy Lifting
I know, I know. This is the part where it’s not quite as “lazy.”
But your messaging is everything here.
You need to understand:
- what your clients are struggling with
- what they’re thinking about
- what they want for their business
- how they actually say those things
When you know that, creating photographer Instagram content becomes so much easier. You’re not guessing. You’re pulling directly from what your clients are already telling you.
And a lot of that comes from real conversations—discovery calls, brand sessions, follow-ups. That’s where the gold is.
The Casual Carousel That Works Way Better Than You Think
The second type of lazy girl content is a casual carousel.
You’ve definitely seen these before. And you’ve probably thought, “That wouldn’t work for me.”
But it does.
These aren’t meant to be perfectly curated, hyper-designed graphics. They’re meant to feel natural and a little more behind-the-scenes.
Think of it like a photo dump, but intentional.
You’re looking at:
- 3–10 slides
- a mix of selfies, everyday moments, and aesthetic shots
- simple text layered on top
And no, you do not need to overthink the photos.
It can be your coffee, your workspace, a quick phone snap in a studio, even something as simple as being at home with your kids. It all works—as long as it aligns with your brand.
The first slide being a selfie? Highly recommend. People connect with people.
Keep It Simple (Like… Really Simple)
This is not your Canva masterpiece moment.
You can use Canva if you want, but you can also:
- use your notes app and screenshot it
- create something in Instagram stories and download it
- keep the text minimal and clean
The goal is for it to feel easy and natural—not like you spent hours designing it.
And for the caption? You get to play with it. You can expand on your idea, repeat what’s on the slides, or keep it super short and let the carousel do the work.
Why This Type of Content Performs So Well
Here’s the part people don’t expect.
This “lazy girl content” is often the content that performs the best.
Because it:
- gets more reach
- feels more personal
- builds connection faster
It doesn’t feel like a polished, corporate brand. It feels like you.
And that’s what your audience actually wants. They want to feel like they know you, trust you, and can connect with you—not like they’re looking at a perfectly curated feed that took hours to create.
This Is the Content to Try This Week
If your current content process feels exhausting, this is your sign to simplify.
Start with:
- one simple reel
- one casual carousel
Keep it quick. Keep it real. Don’t overthink it.
Because the goal isn’t to create more complicated photographer Instagram content—it’s to create content that actually connects and gets seen.
And if you’re sitting there thinking, “Okay, but I don’t even know what my clients are thinking or how to write those hooks,” that’s exactly the work we do inside Rebrand.
That’s where everything clicks into place.
Until then, try this. Keep it simple. And go post something.
