Lavender and Succulent South Dakota Wedding

Paula first got in touch with me about a week before her stepdaughter Alli’s wedding day. She was so excited about a charm she’d incorporated into the bridal bouquet honoring Alli’s late mother. It was so important to her to make sure the charm itself was documented, but also Alli seeing it for the first time.

It’s moments like that that make me so happy to do what I do. I love LOVE, you guys! Whether it’s between a husband and wife, a stepmom and daughter, or anyone else, love is so awesome and amazing to capture. What an immense honor!

Seeing the charm for the first time (which showed a photo of Alli’s mom, as well as the words “Missing you as I walk down the aisle”) made her tear up, and I’ll admit I sniffled behind my camera. To be totally honest, it wasn’t the only time tears were shed on Saturday! Alli and Ryan’s wedding day was a fun, emotional ride full of so much joy and love with all their closest friends and family.

It’s not uncommon on wedding days for tensions to run high and tempers to flare. It’s not the most fun part of weddings, but it’s understandable when so much is happening on one day! There was none of that on Alli and Ryan’s wedding day, though. They were both so calm and cool the whole day, just along for the ride. There was no stress, no frustration. Just a lot of fun and love.

Alli’s dress was probably one of the most unique ones I’ve seen this year. I was obsessed with all the texture and the  back detail, and I loved the fit! It was so perfectly her. She even ordered it before trying it on! Love at first site.

I haven’t seen much purple at weddings this year, so I was pretty obsessed with the lavender and wisteria color palette these two dreamt up. It was so happy and summery, and it was really elegant and understated. They did a great job of pulling in those pops of color in the most perfect spots.

You KNOW I have a bouquet problem (I LOVE THEM I LOVE THEM) but dang, Alli’s really made me swoon. Renee at Nepsted’s just KILLED it. So many fun textural elements and THE COLOR. So perfect.

I LOVE the idea of baby’s breath bouquets for bridesmaids. They’re so simple and fresh, and they go with just about any floral arrangement.

Another close up of Alli’s beautiful bouquet and the “Missing you” charm. It was such a sweet addition to her wedding florals and one I know she appreciated and will treasure forever. What a sweet stepmom she has!

Gotta love a good bridal veil photo.

I don’t think I will EVER tire of succulents, folks. They are just so perfectly perfect! I love the texture they add, and the pop of green makes everything seem more alive. They paired perfectly with the natural elements like the birch branch candle holder and burlap table runner, and the mason jars full of pretty stems. Such simple but amazing centerpieces! These guys outdid themselves.

Oh, mother/son wedding dances get me right in the feels! Loved this so much.

Alli and Ryan, thank you so much for including me in your wedding day. Working with you guys was so seamless and chill. You guys really have your priorities in check! Thanks for planning a wedding day focused on love and all the good stuff. I wish you both the absolute best!
