John P. Furber Farm Cottage Grove, Minnesota Wedding

Weddings are always amazing – from the excitement when you’re spending the morning drinking champagne with your girls, to the butterflies right before you see your love, to the joy of dancing the night away with all your friends and family, wedding day emotions are one of the reasons why I love this job so much. But honestly, there is maybe nothing sweeter as a photographer than getting to experience all of this alongside people who mean so much to you.

Alexa is my cousin, and when I say cousin I mean she’s one of my people. There’s seven of us girls all within just a couple years of each other, and I don’t really have words for how much they mean to me. They’re kind of everything. They’re my people.

So yes, all weddings are amazing. But as you can imagine, when the wedding belongs to one of your people, and she’s marrying HER person, and you get to be there through all of it … well, I think we can all agree that is extra special.

Alexa and Tony got married at John P. Furber farm on a beautiful May day. It was unseasonably warm in my opinion – although maybe it just felt that way because we had snow until April this year! The morning was casual and relaxed; after the girls got to the farm from the salon, they passed some time playing beanbags on the giant front lawn of the barn. It was totally perfect, and that just continued throughout the day.

My favorite moment of this day was when I got to be a fly on the wall for Alexa and Tony’s first look. Tony wrote the most beautiful vows I’ve ever heard in my life, and they shared them privately to keep the moment extra special. It was one of my favorite first looks of all time.

I hope you love these photos as much as I do. It’s so fun to relive the day again and again – I smile every time I look at these!
