Elegant Vintage Dusty Rose Wedding in Brandon, South Dakota

I met Maddie and Joe for their engagement session when I was one million years pregnant, and still ended up coming away from it smiling ear-to-ear having had an absolute blast, and feeling like I’d just been introduced to new lifelong friends. So, it should have been no surprise that their wedding left me with the same feeling.

Maddie and Joe were married on a humid August day in a little Presbyterian Church in Luverne, Minnesota. The morning started at Maddie’s home, on the land she and her siblings grew up on. The morning was slow and happy. There were mimosas and snacks, and not a stress in sight; exactly the way a wedding morning should be! Maddie was chill as ever, and had a few sweet moments with her parents and best friends while getting ready.

These two saw each other for the first time on their wedding day at Blue Mound State Park, and man, did it give an amazing backdrop for couple’s portraits. We may have been sweating, but we were seriously spoiled with the scenery. Of course, such a good looking couple didn’t hurt the cause, either.

The party kicked off at the Holiday Inn Express in Brandon, South Dakota, and it was beautiful. Maddie and her mom joked that it was their wedding, and Joe just happened to be along for the ride. Well if that’s the case, I think Maddie and Anne need to plan ALL THE WEDDINGS. It was incredible! Stacy and her crew at The Flower Mill absolutely killed it with the amazing floral arrangements, and Jason with Energy Event Group kept the party raging through the night. I found myself singing and dancing while I was taking dance floor photos, and that always means it’s been a great day!

Maddie and Joe, I’ve absolutely loved getting to know you two and your amazing family and friends over the last few months. Thank you so much for including me in your amazing day – it was honestly the biggest delight. I hope you love these photos, because I’m obsessed!

I often get asked what some of the pros are to having a second shooter. While your day can totally be captured by a solo shooter, having a second is also super helpful, and can lead to some fantastic additional images. I have to shout out Jessica for the photo below. She had some extra time since she was second’ing, so she played around with a double exposure and got this gem. I’m SO obsessed!!!
