Classic South Dakota Catholic Church Wedding

If I had to describe Brittany and Kasey’s wedding day in one word it would be JOY. These two were just happy. Happy to be getting married, happy their friends and family traveled from near and far to share in their day, happy to hit the dance floor – just HAPPY. Is there anything better than photographing happiness!? I really don’t think so!

Brittany and Kasey were married on a gorgeous spring day on Memorial Day weekend. And when I say gorgeous, what I mean is HOT! Never in a million years would I have believed you if you would have told me this Memorial Day wedding was going to be 90 degrees – that just doesn’t happen! Rain? Sure! Wind? Definitely! All around not-so-nice weather? Absolutely. But 90 degrees? What in the world!?

Even still, these two worked through the heat and still had a blast celebrating their love with friends and family. We were glad to have an air conditioned church at the beautiful Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls – this church is gorgeous. I loved the in-the-round seating (it makes for such good angles!), bright lighting and big windows.

The reception kicked off at the Holiday Inn Sioux Falls City Center in the Starlight Ballroom. The views of downtown Sioux Falls from the ballroom are phenomenal, and since I was there before the curtains were pulled and the reception began, I got to enjoy them while I photographed the reception details. Brittany and her mama worked so hard to make it beautiful, and their care and attention to detail really showed.

Of course, I would be missing a major part of the day if I didn’t tell you that my favorite part was the dance. Let me tell you the last time I said that about a wedding: NEVER! Usually by the time the dance rolls around, I’m exhausted, my feet are sore, and I’m dreaming about a glass of wine myself! Not on this day. It was so dang fun watching this crew cut a rug that I could have stayed all night – seriously! Talk about a blast!

Enjoy a few of my favorite images from this beautiful, classic church wedding <3
