Haley + Jimmy: Mitchell, South Dakota Romantic Backyard Spring Wedding

I’ve been lucky enough to work with some insanely talented and creative brides this year. Haley is an interior designer, and I knew after our first few emails that her wedding was going to be stunning. Every single thing, down to the smallest detail, was intricately planned and prepped before the wedding day even happened.

Haley and her groom, Jimmy, planned a romantic spring wedding in Haley’s parents’ gorgeous backyard, right across from Lake Mitchell. It was a beautiful way to spend Memorial Day weekend! Of course, in true Memorial Day fashion, there was a lot of rain. The original plan was for the bride and groom to say their vows under a canopy of trees, and then have guests move into the enormous white tent for drinks, dinner, and dancing, but Mother Nature had other plans!

Haley and Jimmy took it all in stride when everyone decided last minute it was a better option to perform the ceremony in the tent. It didn’t matter one bit to them, because at the end of the day, these two were married. And, of course, just as the ceremony finished, the clouds disappeared and the rain stopped. It was time to party!

Haley and Jimmy, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your day. It was absolutely breathtaking, from all the attention to detail put into the planning, to the obvious love you two have for each other. Enjoy these photos!

Haley designed her wedding stationery, and I was totally obsessed with it!

The über talented Sabreena Frances did makeup for all the girls. I love working with this chick!! She’s the best!

Haley’s dress was a dreamy ballgown, with bling all the way down the back and an insanely pretty shimmer all over. Everyone was shocked at the style she chose, and we all absolutely loved it. How could you not?!

Ugh – do you know how much I love First Looks? SO. SO. MUCH.

That veil though.

Say what you want about rain on wedding days, but umbrellas sure make for adorable props!

This bouquet was to-die-for!

Considering the tent was a “backup plan,” it looked pretty dang amazing!

Wine during a wedding ceremony. Best. Idea. Ever.

The guests were treated to mini cheesecakes later in the night, but the couple cut into the beautiful cheesecake set up on the head table. It was too pretty for words! And the bridesmaids flowers – so unique.

By the end of the speeches, almost everyone had cried…and laughed!

Instead of a DJ, Dustin Evans and the Good Times Band performed and rocked the house. These guys also performed at Haley’s parents wedding. I just love that!

And of course, I had to steal the bride and groom once the rain stopped. This is one of my favorite photos of the day.

Congrats, Haley and Jimmy! Cheers to many years!
