The Best 2018 Black Friday Deals for Photographers

It’s the mossssst wonderful tiiiiiiiime of the yearrrrrrr…

Okay, okay, okay, shopping is NOT what the holidays are all about, but it sure is fun! I love Black Friday every year because of all the amazing deals I can snag for my business. Because hello, it’s a write off!

Also – when you hear ‘write off’ does anyone else think of that amazing scene from Schitt’s Creek? The first time I saw it I laughed so hard I about wet myself. I digress…

I’ve collected some of my favorite Black Friday deals for photographers, and I’m so excited to share with you. I take advantage of almost every single one of these each year, and can honestly say that while I’d totally pay full price for a lot of these things, it’s certainly nice to not have to.

Photomechanic – $30 off starting November 23: If you are still culling photos in Bridge or Lightroom, STOP NOW and BUY THIS PRODUCT. It has been a total game changer in how fast I am able to cull images and get to the fun part (editing!). It’s the simplest idea ever and I’m mad I didn’t think of it first. Photomechanic eliminated distractions so the only thing you can do is cull. Even better, it loads the image super fast so you don’t have to wait for it to render. It is always super affordable in my opinion (and only a one time fee), but now it’s an even better deal through Black Friday.

Stomp Software – 50% off when you buy all three products: I’ve actually been asked fairly often how I create the collages that I post on Facebook and my blog, and this software is the ticket! I use both Albumstomp to create easy-peasy client albums, and Blogstomp to make blogging a total breeze. They also have a great album proofing software that makes it super easy for clients to approve album spreads.

Dubsado – prices going up after Black Friday: I’m in the process of switching CRMs to Dubsado, so you can bet I am taking advantage of this sale! You can currently get Dub for $25/month WHICH IS A GIANT STEAL. I am a CRM snob, and this platform basically does it all. For everything it can do, that price is unheard of. If you don’t currently have a CRM, or you’re looking for something more robust, think about switching to Dubsado. It’s like the cheapest assistant you’ve ever paid. (NOTE this is an affiliate link; thank you for using it!)

Shootproof – 40% off: I use Shootproof to deliver every single client gallery, and I’ve been so happy with it. I take advantage of their Black Friday sale every year to increase my storage. This year they’re offering 40% off some subscriptions, so it’s a great time to sign up! (NOTE this is an affiliate link; thank you for using it!)

Nikon D750 (B&H Photo): I have two of these, and they always have great Black Friday sales. If you’re looking at upgrading to a full frame camera and want to own this bad boy, I highly recommend this deal, which is JUST the body and no lens (because kit lenses are garbage and you don’t need that junk in your life).

Nikon D7200 (B&H Photo): This was the mid-level camera I shot on for years before upgrading to full frame. Another good deal, and another without a kit lens. Whoop!

Nikon D3500 (B&H Photo): This baby is where it all began! This is an EXCELLENT beginner level camera that I can’t say enough good things about. I talk about it more here, as well as what lens to pair with it. Which leads me too…

Nikon 50mm 1.8: The lens of all lenses! If you can only afford one piece of glass as a newbie photographer, snatch this guy up TODAY. It’s so versatile, and I often joke that if I needed to, I could shoot an entire wedding with JUST a 50mm (and, ahem, I’ve actually done it). Skip those kit lenses and make this your new BFF.

Memory Cards (16GB, 32 GB): The most exciting Black Friday purchases I make every year are memory cards. JUST KIDDING. It’s the lamest purchase ever but it has to be done. Did you know you’re supposed to replace memory cards?! I’m paranoid about keeping mine fresh and new so I don’t ever lose any files, so I’ll be stocking up. I love these smaller sizes (16 and 32GB) because I prefer shooting on more + smaller cards as an insurance policy (AKA if something happens to one, I’m not losing all my images). These are also super fast which is necessary because I am shutter happy.

Prints and Fun

Artifact Uprising – 20% off: I freaking love this company and all their cute stuff. Even just the basic square prints are amazing quality. If you have been waiting to print your photos, do it now!

Instapix camera ($10 off): Is this necessary? No. Is it super cute and do I need it? Yes.

Photo Flash Drive – 25% off (crystal flash drive): I use these flash drives to deliver wedding galleries and they’re SO pretty. You can even get them engraved!

SC Stock Shop – 40% off: While I try to take all my own imagery (because hello, I’m a photographer!), good stock photography can be super expensive to make yourself. The SC Stock Shop and Social Squares make good stock photography so much more attainable for those of us who need to be using pretty images in every facet of their business. I’ve used these images as backgrounds for marketing graphics and they’re so gorgeous and easy to use. These would also be a total game changer for anyone running an online business, or rocking an MLM biz.

Pip and Willow – 25% off solids and holiday sets: I have to include this because even though I buy these tights and bows for Veda, they’re also perfect for photographers who work with a lot of babies and kids! Stock up now because you’re not going to find anything cuter. I am slowly turning Veda’s entire closet into Pip and Willow and I’m not mad about it.

Large diffuser – I’m obsessed with having essential oils in my office to help me stop stressing, and this is on my list to add to my diffuser collection. It’s HUGE, so I love that I wouldn’t have to refill it all the time.

Essential oil diffuser – I just added this guy to my office desk and he’s s’cute. Fits right in with my office vibe + smells amazing. Win, win. blue light glasses – BOGO: I often get asked where I get my glasses, and EyeBuyDirect is the answer. Their glasses are BOGO now, so snag yourself some cute blue light lenses to help for those late nights behind the computer.

Strawberry Revolution – 30% off: Would you even believe me if I told you I’ve never ordered from StrawRev?! I KNOW, THE HORROR. I’m eyeing their Black Friday sale for that very reason. Their stuff is so cute, and I love the items they have specifically for photographers. Def adding this to cart now…
